The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) has adopted new rules for disease management programmes (DMP)<\/strong> aimed at greater digitalisation and more flexibility in the programmes.<\/p>\n

Specifically, digital applications and telemedicine offerings<\/strong> are to be integrated better into the DMP in order to improve care for chronically ill patients<\/strong>. One example of a successful DMP is the diabetes DMP, which is used by many patients.<\/p>\n

The decision has met with criticism<\/strong>, however. Experts complain that the changes are worded too vaguely<\/strong> and contain no concrete measures for implementing digital elements. There is also a lack of clear requirements for integrating telemedicine and DiGA<\/strong>, which makes the intended modernisation of the DMP more difficult.<\/p>\n

Overall, the decision is therefore regarded as insufficient<\/strong> to drive forward the urgently needed digitalisation of care for chronic conditions.<\/p>\n
