In October 2024, the first bilateral meeting between Germany and France<\/strong> on the scientific assessment of digital medical devices took place in Strasbourg.<\/p>\n

The French National Health Authority (HAS) and the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), together with the health ministries of the two countries, began talks on the assessment practice for digital medical devices for therapeutic purposes and individual patient applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The aim of the cooperation is to harmonise the evaluation of such products at European level<\/strong> and to accelerate access to digital solutions that offer demonstrable clinical or organisational benefits<\/strong>. With their fast-track procedures, the DiGA framework in Germany (since 2020) and the PECAN framework in France (since 2023), Germany and France are international pioneers in the reimbursement of digital health applications. The cooperation is to be intensified through regular meetings in order to advance the interests of citizens and innovators.<\/p>\n
