The gematik has decided to permit the “Nect ePass” video ident procedure again, officially since August 1, 2025. The procedure allows insured persons to verify their identity by video and biometric identity check in future, without having to use a PIN on their electronic health card or the online ID function.
The procedure has been readmitted after being banned in 2022 over security concerns.
The aim is to make access to digital health services such as the electronic patient record (ePA), e-prescription, GesundheitsID and other telematics infrastructure services easier for insured persons.
