In March 2024, the European Court of Justice ruled that harmonised technical standards are to be regarded as part of EU law and must therefore be available to view free of charge for companies and private individuals. One part of the reasoning was that this is the only way to find out what mandatory product standards are.
DIN Media GmbH has now published these standards at Harmonisierte Normen in Europa, where they are available after free registration.
Given the lack of harmonisation of standards to date, however, the directory is not yet helpful in the field of medical technology, and the website stands out for its minimal design and a missing search field and filter options. Downloading the documents is not possible either.
