The German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg) published its healthcare IT trend report at the beginning of March.

An entire chapter is devoted to the use of AI in healthcare. According to it, a quarter of respondents in Germany believe their health will improve through greater use of AI within 3 to 5 years. This share is considerably higher in the USA and France, at 32% and 37% respectively.

Do you think your health will improve over the next 3 to 5 years as a result of the increased use of artificial intelligence?

This fits with the March reports on new AI applications and products, a selection of which we present here:

The bvitg regards AI as the first technology that could transform healthcare systems towards digitalisation without political steering:

Until now, this required “laws, funding mechanisms and political support“. AI, however, has the potential according to the association to “not just improve the [healthcare] system, but to fundamentally change it”.
