33 digital health organisations have published a joint statement calling for an EU assessment framework for the reimbursement of digital medical devices. It should be set up as early as 2026. They criticise that separate national approaches lead to duplicate assessments, thereby delaying patient access and slowing down innovation.
The aim of the initiative is for new digital therapeutics (DTx), remote monitoring and AI solutions to be available and reimbursable across Europe within two to three years of first approval at the latest.
