From July 1, 2026, Swiss compulsory health insurance (OKP) will cover the costs of digital health applications for treating depression:
Digital applications for cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for patients with mild to moderate depressive episodes and recurrent depressive disorders will be reimbursed.
These digital therapy offerings are aimed at people who suffer from depression and need support, either as a supplement to traditional psychotherapy or as a bridge until psychotherapy begins.
For reimbursement by the OKP to apply, the applications must be prescribed by a doctor with the relevant specialist title. The application must also meet the requirements of the Swiss list of medical aids and devices (MiGeL).
The first application to be listed is deprexis, a DiGA permanently listed in Germany.
