Constanze Care
During the exciting time of pregnancy, expectant mothers face many questions. Constanze Care answers them: scientifically sound, yet with heart and a great deal of empathy. From the first checkup to birth, the app accompanies the expectant mother through every phase and helps her make informed decisions for herself and her baby.
The app provides structured guidance through all prenatal checkups, from trimester to trimester and week by week. For every checkup, Constanze Care delivers clearly explained background information, for example on topics such as toxoplasmosis or cytomegalovirus, so the user knows what to expect and when. A countdown to the estimated due date makes the progress tangible at any time.
Constanze Care was developed by QuickBird Medical on behalf of Labor Becker, in collaboration with Frisk Innovation: from the iOS and Android app to the backend and infrastructure. QuickBird Medical also maintains and continuously extends the app in live operation.
Challenge
Constanze Care addresses an emotionally sensitive target group in a special phase of life. The app has to work reliably and earn the user’s trust anew every day over many months. Content must be medically sound, up to date, and clearly structured.
In addition, the product was not meant to be delivered just once, but to be continuously developed closely along the requirements of Labor Becker and the feedback of the target group. This required a technical foundation that can be extended quickly and reliably.
Process
QuickBird Medical took over the development of the Constanze Care iOS and Android app, including backend and infrastructure. The backend allows the medical content to be maintained, keeping the product medically up to date.
Data protection and data security were a constant priority. A pregnancy app processes particularly sensitive health data, so QuickBird Medical built the product to be data-minimal and GDPR-compliant from the ground up and treated security as an integral part of the development process, not as an afterthought. Equally important was accessibility in line with the WCAG standard: good readability, sufficient contrast, scalable font sizes, and support for the accessibility features of iOS and Android, guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), so that the app can be used comfortably by all expectant mothers.
